HERE’S WHAT’S YOU’LL FIND INSIDE:
BEGINNER BONUS MODULE:
Week 0: Basics
Week 0 videos cover everything you need to sit down for your first lesson with me - including how prepare your area, how to hold the cello and bow, an overview of cello anatomy, and how to tune and tape your cello.
+ 30 core lessons divided into 4 modules for self-paced study:
WEEK 1 MODULE:
Intro to left & right hand techniques
(7 videos, ~30 minutes each)
We’re laying the foundation of your cello journey by learning how to pull a beautiful ribbon of sound with the bow, how to play notes with the left hand, and by Day 7, how to put it all together and play a one-octave D Major scale.
WEEK 2 MODULE:
Ode to Joy
(7 videos, ~30 minutes each)
We start harnessing the incredible sonic range of the cello by learning a 2-octave C Major scale. We also learn how to slur notes with the bow and how to play Beethoven's famous Ode to Joy melody from his 9th symphony.
WEEK 3 MODULE:
Extensions and an étude by Kummer
(7 videos, ~30 minutes each)
We expand our left hand capability by learning how to comfortably and safely play left hand extensions. With this added range of notes now within reach, we learn a one octave B flat major scale (which uses 2 extensions). We also learn a hauntingly beautiful étude by Kummer.
WEEK 4 MODULE:
The Last Rose of Summer
(9 videos, ~30 minutes each)
In this very exciting final ‘week’ of 9 days, we learn 4th position & how to shift with the left hand between positions. This expanded access to notes of the fingerboard allows us to learn a 2 octave F major scale, and we put shifting, slurs, and our sound production tools to use as we learn the Irish folk melody, The Last Rose of Summer.
+ BONUSES!
BONUS #1
Mastering smooth bow changes
We’ll explore collé and how to build the finger flexibility needed to change the bow seamlessly. Then, I’ll walk you through, step-by-step, how to develop and implement the ‘paintbrush’ technique. By the end, you will understand the role of the bow arm and fingers in executing buttery smooth bow changes.
BONUS #2
(More) Lower Neck Positions
We’ll cover the rest of the lower neck positions, including 1/2, 2nd, and 3rd position.
BONUS #3
Music Theory Primer
In this series of videos, I’ll teach you the basics of music theory, including how to read music and note identification, note values, rhythms, time signatures, and interval theory and ear training.

DOES THIS COURSE REPLACE REAL LIVE CELLO LESSONS?
My course is meant to provide the daily consistent and sequential teaching and practice in 30 minute increments per day to get you off to the best start possible.
Traditionally, adult beginners will take 30 minute or hour lessons once a week. That means two things:
You are only introduced to new concepts during that short period of time during your lesson
You are likely to develop “bad” habits during your time alone practicing due to unsupervised practice.
Your progress is contingent upon perfect retention and practice of what you learned during your lesson.
With my course, each lesson builds upon the last so that by the end of the 30 lessons, you have travelled a far greater distance because you haven’t wasted a single practice session.
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
This course is perfect for adult learners new to cello AND for those who have already started, taken lessons, or are self-taught but feel they don’t have a firm grasp of fundamentals.
Goal-oriented students — While each lesson builds step-by-step, weekly milestones create tangible progress that will keep you motivated.
Students who are motivated but need flexibility and/or structure — Many adults find it difficult to schedule time for regular in-person lessons. Cello in 30 Days provides the structure and needed flexibility to take a lesson day or night while sticking to a prescribed program.
Students who have already started cello (but feel they do not have a solid foundation) — Many students come to this course having already started their journeys but feeling they would like to establish a better foundation. After the course, they can walk away with a better understanding of beginner cello technique (not just knowing “how” to do something, but understanding the “why” behind what to do).
